Yumka: Queen of Great Bliss
conferred by Khentul Gyangkhang Rinpoche

Sunday, November 16, 2008
10:30am – Noon: Yumka Empowerment
2:00 – 3:30pm: Teachings on Yumka

His Eminence Gyangkhang Rinpoche will confer the Yumka Empowerment at the Nyingma Palyul Dharma Center in Chinatown, New York. Teachings will also be given on the Yumka sadhana and Dakini Tsok Offering.

The terma known as Yumka Dechen Gyalmo (“Queen of Great Bliss”) was revealed by the Omniscient Jigme Lingpa (1729-1798), primary transmittor of the Longchen Nyingthig cycle of Dzogchen Teachings. Yumka is practiced on Dakini Day (the 25th day of the Tibetan calendar) at Namdroling Monastery, the primary residence of H.H. Penor Rinpoche, and at many other Palyul and Nyingma centers worldwide. In addition to its renown as a full path to enlightenment, this practice is held as an especially efficacious means for purifying one’s Vajrayana samaya. The central meditational deity of Yumka is the Wisdom Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal, foremost consort to Guru Rinpoche.

In accordance with ancient Buddhist traditions, this Empowerment is offered entirely free of charge, leaving matters concerning support of the teacher to a disciple’s level of commitment and generosity.

Suggested donation: $20 per session

Tulku Gyangkhang Rinpoche, one of three heart sons of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, was born in India and recognized as the authentic incarnation of the previous Gyangkhang Rinpoche by Dudjom Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and Penor Rinpoche. From the tender age of four, Tulku Rinpoche has resided at Namdroling Monastery in the direct care of Penor Rinpoche. In 1994, under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, Gyangkhang Rinpoche took the vows of full monastic ordination. Upon completion of the nine-year course of advanced studies at the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute in 1995, Rinpoche received the title of “Khentul” and was acclaimed by Penor Rinpoche as “displaying abundant skill in leading others on the path to enlightenment.”
